March 8, 2015 - Reported [here]. Kota Kinabalu: The family which owns a statue of the weeping Mother Mary will keep the figurine at home at least until Easter next month. “We would like to have the statue in the house during Lent,” said Michael George, whose home in Kampung Mahandoi, Penampang, has caught public attention following news that the statue has been shedding tears the past one week.

On Friday, assistant parish priest of Sacred Heart here, Father Jeffri Gumu, was quoted as saying that the church would ask Michael to consider keeping the statue at a nearby church where it could be assessed. Michael’s sister-in-law bought the statue in the Philippines a year ago. The statue was blessed by Archbishop John Wong, the head of the Kota Kinabalu Archdiocese, last Sunday. The following day, Michael’s youngest son Melvin noticed the liquid droplets on the face of the statue. Michael, who is self-employed, said the tears were again seen at about 2.35pm on Friday.
